Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat is Wong’s homage to pioneering performance artist Joseph Beuys’ seminal piece, How to Explain Pictures to a Dead Hare. Involving a guest performance by a live cow, Wong’s performance is inspired by the buildings’ locale. The artist recalls seeing live animals - specifically, bulls - in processions and festivals in the neighbourhood, the heart of the local Hindu community, and the reverence shown to the animal deeply impressed him. The performance deals with questions of the varying ethical standards applied to different species of creatures, and humanity’s schizoid treatment of its animalian brethren.
