This series of 6 works begins with a photograph of a card from the postal service from 1962 that belonged to the artist’s grandaunt. Continuing her investigation into the role of the image as a document, the artist creates interventions into the image by hand-sanding the photograph. These sanded visual forms become critical meditations on the importance of materiality, reproduction and language in one’s reflections on history and meaning-making.
