The Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts has revealed its 2026 program, featuring works by over 200 artists exploring themes of connection and culture through contemporary practice.

Spread across four seasons of exhibitions, screenings, live performances and studio residencies, the program will kick off with a partnership with Perth Festival, with three commissions uncovering the histories of water and cultural exchange across the Global South.

Developed by an Australian-Indonesian curatorium, Awakening Histories (February 2 – March 29) will include works by over 20 artists, showcasing the legacy of long-standing connections between Makassan seafarers and northern Australia’s First Nations peoples and offering “a counter-narrative to Eurocentric histories of discovery”.
