This weaving artwork is a poignant and thought-provoking piece that addresses the theme of the loss of tradition in the face of modernity. Shrouded in black, the artwork serves as a funeral or mourning for both the loss of the artist's baby and the loss of traditional crafts. The use of dark and black colors serves as a visual representation of this loss, and the woven fiber enclosing a baby cradle adds a deeply personal and emotional layer to the artwork. The artist experienced loss in his family via a miscarriage of a close relative, and believes that the disappearance of hand-made crafts and the rise of industrial processes and machines are contributing factors to the decline of traditional weaving and other crafts. This artwork serves as a reminder of the value of these traditions and the need to preserve them in the face of modernity.
