Filippo Sciascia
The artist draws from various theories and influences, such as the physicist Richard Feynman (1918-1988) and his theory of quantum electrodynamics, which explains how light and electrons interact. In this work, Filippo Sciascia develops his own graphical interpretation of society’s transformation. Tracing back to the most organic forms of energy, he employs volcanic sand to illuminate contemporary graphics gathered from science and data websites. In the artist’s chart of social evolution throughout the years, the manifold changes in lifestyle and livelihoods shaped by light are animated by the surrounding works – from the sustenance of nature’s flora and fauna to the explosion of technology in the 21st century.
