Citra Sasmita's evocative artwork transcends its physical form to embody a profound narrative. Sasmita draws inspiration from ancient civilizations and the Mekong River, considering codes or rituals embedded in its primordial essence. The symbolic journey along the river parallels the artist's exploration of the stages of Kundalini, resonating with the continuous flow of life. In homage to the Mekong River, Sasmita infuses a primordial sense into the artwork, mirroring the significance of rivers in various cultures. The inclusion of "Salang" being placed in a shrine adds an element of ritualistic reverence to the piece, inviting viewers to contemplate the spiritual and cultural dimensions woven into the fabric of "Stream to Land of No Return"
Citra Sasmita's captivating artwork is a traditional kamasan canvas mounted on snake skin. Like her works with various mythological and Hindu iconologu and symbolism, this one explores the profound journey of Kundalini energy. Beginning with the lowest chakra in the head, the piece delves into the stages of enlightenment. The artist symbolically represents the shedding of perceptions of good and bad, fostering a growth mentality. The gestural depiction of a woman in meditation emphasizes the importance of wisdom. The trinity motif further enriches the narrative, leading to the perpetual cycle of the fountain of life, symbolized by a continuous river.
