Millenia Walk | Moving Wonders 2024

Millenia Walk is a vibrant hub for creativity, innovation, and storytelling. With a commitment to inspiring fresh perspectives, Millenia Walk encourages visitors to experience familiar concepts in new ways, fostering joy, curiosity, and creativity.

Aligning with Millenia Walk's mission of creativity and community engagement, they sought to activate their space during the 2024 exhibition of Wade and Leta’s Moving Wonders. Yeo Workshop was approached to curate complementary experiences that would engage visitors and further promote the mall’s ethos of innovation and artistic expression.

We designed a series of interactive, immersive experiences to enhance the exhibition and invite visitors into the world of art-making and creative expression:

  1. Hydra: A Wearable Art Performance by Lai Thi Dieu Ha: An immersive performance featuring wearable art sculptures, exploring the interconnectedness of life through textiles and weaving. Performers guided visitors through the mall, questioning the construction of reality and inviting reflection on the stories we create and live within.

  2. Living Room Curiosities: A Live Showcase of Assemblage Art by Keisha Yan: Visitors watched as Keisha Yan transformed everyday, recyclable items into vibrant, festive dioramas, demonstrating the beauty of upcycling and the artistry in reimagining the ordinary.

  3. Roll Pinch Stick: Clay with Shayne Phua: A hands-on, family-friendly ceramic workshop where participants molded brightly colored, air-dry clay into unique sculptures. Led by a professional ceramicist, the workshop encouraged personal creativity and self-expression.

  4. Ink Trails: A Mark-Making Experience in Motion by Brigette Teo: Visitors explored the art of mark-making using non-traditional tools like toothbrushes, springs, and marbles, transforming everyday objects into artistic instruments to create one-of-a-kind patterns.

  5. Balance & Motion: A Playful Mobile-Making Experience by Brigette Teo: A workshop where participants crafted unique mobiles, learning the principles of counterbalancing and movement. Using tools like pliers and wire, they added their personal touch to create sculptures that danced in the air.

By curating these innovative experiences, Millenia Walk succeeded in offering a dynamic platform for connecting with the local and regional creative community. The art activations not only brought fresh perspectives to the mall’s visitors but also highlighted the cultural vibrancy of the region. Shoppers were encouraged to engage with art in new, hands-on ways, fostering a deeper connection to the space and the artists behind the works.
