Citra Sasmita (born 1990, Bali) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges literature and visual art, often exploring Balinese cultural myths, gender roles, and social hierarchies.
Books Of Fire marks a significant milestone in her literary path: her first widely released poetry collection, which also features visual works from her Timur Merah Project. On the visual side, Citra revives the traditional Balinese Kamasan painting style with a feminist and contemporary twist—as seen in Timur Merah—to examine Balinese myth, gender, and social structures with a progressive energy.
