Scratching/ etching acrylic on canvas. Extremely detailed craft. An artwork showing a spring where indigenous communities depend on for water but also for harvesting plants, leaves and roots as offerings, medicine and traditional rituals. For instance, a traditional ceremony called Belian is performed for the purpose of healing the village, honouring ancestors, and seeking blessings for the environment. A task that is becoming increasingly difficult to assemble as forests are cleared.
A disappearing sight the artist wanted to memorialise since the growth of palm oil industries has led to unrestrained deforestation.
